The Product
The Tommee Tippee Advanced Comfort bottles claim to help prevent colic in babies due to their “unique tube and valve system”. These bottles are also designed with a “breast-like” teat to allow for an easier latch. However, the baby market is inundated with bottles that claim they are the best at preventing colic and each brand seems to be developing new ways to more accurately simulate the breast. So do the Tommee Tippee Advanced Comfort bottles live up to expectation?
Quality
These bottles are made from BPA-free materials with a soft silicone teat. The plastic is robust and does stand up to the daily wear and tear imposed on them. Unlike other anti-colic bottles, we found these very simple to take apart with minimal parts meaning they are really easy to clean and you can ensure each part is sterile ready for your baby to use. The only slight criticism we have is that unless you take the bottom of the valve off when washing, then water can become trapped in the tube and leak when feeding. But as long as you ensure to empty any excess water from the tubes prior to use then this quickly diminishes the problem.
Effectiveness
Whilst quality is crucial, the main purpose of these bottles is to prevent colic. We were skeptical of how effective these bottles would be, but when asked if this product works the answer is a resounding yes! Our daughter, Aria, suffered awful colic and constipation as a new-born, leaving us severely deprived of sleep and questioning our sanity. However, once we started to use these bottles rather than the normal Tommee Tippee bottles we noticed a huge difference. Aria was more comfortable after feeds, less colicky and generally happier. Feeds went from being a battle to an enjoyable experience! At the same time we had also started Aria on a different formula, so it is hard to attribute all of the success to these bottles. However, on one occasion we used the old bottles to see how much of a difference the Advanced Comfort bottles made, and needless to say we never experimented again!
Price
Now, at £23.99 (RRP) for four bottles the price is quite steep. However, they can also be purchased on Amazon for £14.99 for the same four pack. We found that in order to be able to have bottles on standby and only do one wash a day, that we needed 10 bottles. This means that the price can swiftly add up, especially when compared to other anti-colic bottles. But we truly feel the price is worthwhile for how effective this product is. We found they were included in most sales at major retailers and it is worth keeping a look out so that you can grab them at a bargain price!
Overall opinion
Overall we highly recommend these bottles. Not only are they a great quality from a well trusted brand, but they actually do help with colic and have been an absolute life saver in our house! Whilst the price is at the higher end of bottles, they are worth every penny to improve your child’s feeding times! Less stress for you, less pain for them! It’s a win win!
